For Booga I would suggest the the usual white shirt or tank top with the blue and red target and perhaps a coloured long-sleeve shirt underneath (see picture) and cargos or jeans (probably 3/4 length) as a starting base. He’s pretty much like Tank Girl where you could throw a bunch of punk-ish clothes together and you’d be pretty much spot on. I’d try checked flannel shirts to tie around your waist and white tube socks (you could colour a red stripe on one and a blue stripe on the other) with converse or black boots.
Also, if you are pretty handy with a sewing kit, you could make Booga’s ears and tail outta brown fabric stuffed with somethin’ soft. You could clip the tail on to the pants and under the shirt and with the ears you could sew or clip them onto a hat like a fedora, backwards baseball cap or, if you are lucky enough to have one, a helmet like TG.
Booga is pretty much the boy version of Tank Girl (except the mutant kangaroo part…) so I guess the above describes them both. I’ve dressed as Tank Girl for Halloween and parties many times and I always find it’s the small things that make the difference. Like plasters on your fingers or randomly on your body, fingerless gloves, rips in your clothes, chains, and knee/elbow pads are always good.
You could write some of her sayings on you’re clothes/accessories/body too. I did ‘I’d Love To Fuck You Up’ as a tattoo when I dressed as TG, as well as a ‘23’ (in honor of The Hewll) ‘Charlie Don’t Surf’ and her ‘Lurid Toons’ tattoo which you can find here.
There are some good costume ideas out there if you check out Google, or just do what I did and take some ideas from some of the comic strips. Anyway, awesome idea and it’s always great to go as Tank Girl or the other characters because everyone looks so confused when they see you (or maybe that’s just the parties I’ve been to!)
Thanks for the question, I hope I helped. Please submit some pictures of your costume when you get it sorted, I’d love to check it out.
